We have been working on the Chevrolet Corvette C6R GT2 for a little while, so we have plenty of pictures to show of the development on this car. We will try to keep it short but its still quite long!
As always, we start with a basic shape to get going.
A layout of the early detailing is done to that model.
For the C6R GT2 we did not get the CAD data so we took an early start. This means more feedback is required from Lead’s to Artist.
When we miss out on CAD data the artist needs to be a bit more creative in checking the model.
Its looking good already and we are still in an early stage.
Slowly but steadily details get added to the car.
Making it yellow improves the recognition factor x1000. It is definitely screaming Corvette now.
Still early, but it seems to fit in on track (this is not in-game, its just a render)
The rear of the car is getting a treatment so it all looks nice and smooth.
Come to daddy! As said before we did not have the CAD, so having these renders is very important, proportional errors are easier spotted on these renders.
One without the wireframe.
Exterior model is done at this stage, some small tweaks will still be applied to create a final model.
Looks pretty ace if you ask me.
Expanded view. Time to shake and bake!
Car receives an AO texture to give the car a better shading once imported to the game.
Now its just showing off.
The first shaders get applied to the car.
The artist gets a small taste on how the car will look like in the game environment.
Time for some brotherly love from the 2D/texture artist.
I love the merge between 3d and 2d, especially when it all comes together very nicely.
The 3d artist needs to move his attention to the cockpit now. This is still early stage obviously!
As with the exterior, the interior details are added during every step of the development.
Getting close to a final model here.
Time for the texture artist to give some love to this cockpit.
And now also he is done.
In the near future we will finalize this car’s story. It will make its way into the game so sounds and physics can finish their work. But more on that later.
