We are in such Nissan Mood lately, after we enjoyed some time in Andrei’s 370z GT around our office, it seems a perfect time to add another small chapter to the Japan adventure.
Besides being in Japan to take references of the Suzuka track, I was also scheduled to have a photo shoot with a specific car, sadly enough that got cancelled after it was damaged in transport. They then said I should come to their HQ since they had a small exhibition of classic cars, well you dont have to tell me twice that I can come visit your HQ to come and check some nice cars. I am on my way!
Found it!!! Hard to miss with all the Nissan cars showing off in the gallery next to the water.
This time I did not even have to sneak inside, I was even expected. All the way from the bridge my attention was drawn else where…..was it really!?!?
Some new cars were part of the exhibition, but the last few cars were definitely no new cars. When I walked in earlier I already caught a glimpse, I had to attend a meeting first. But now I was allowed to have a look in the candy store.
Normally one saves the best till last, but I had spotted it correctly, it is one of my all time favorite Skylines. It is not the number 1 on my list, but pretty damn close.
A 1973 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R [KPGC110] in near perfect state. Pretty sweet ride if you ask me. In case you were wondering, even if you were not, my favorite classic skyline is a 1970 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R [KPGC10]. I am still a happy chap though.
Yup, I was drooling a little bit while working around this car, to be honest…… I am drooling again when thinking about it now.
Turned around and there was a very pretty 1966 Nissan Silvia [CSP311], normally no fan of this color on current cars, but it looks very nice on a classic.
As with the GTR the Silvia was in very good state. I really like these classic cars. Wooden steering wheel, very sweet middle console. What more does a man want…that is a rhetorical question, so don’t answer that.
The next car that I found interesting was the classic model of the current Fairlady’s that I am a big fan off. The classic car isn’t too bad either.
Behold the 1972 Nissan Fairlady Z [HS30]!
As you can see from the start picture till the later ones, it’s already very dark outside. There were only a few classics presented in the exhibition room, but I spent at least a few hours here gasping at these cars. They are very nice to look at and you don’t come across them every day.
There were also current cars being showed in the room, of course the 2011 GTR was present.
Sim-racing Nissan Style! I had to have a go, must say I was impressed with the feeling of the cars and the level of realism, not to mention the photo realistic graphics………..
Nissan won the Japanese SuperGT this season and they have the bling to proof it. Congratulations on winning one of the most interesting race series in current day.
For the Gundam fans among us, don’t ask me what, which or who this is, I have no idea.
Last but not least, a small collection of Nissan die-casts showing the history of the brand. Time to go back to the hotel, it is time to let the Nissan people go home.
Aaaaargh, almost made it outside but then spotted the shop, guess I’ll have to browse that first.
